Outside by Moana Sun

One butterfly leads me to success,

The other to something else.

I’m Sorry I cannot choose both

And look at how far it flies,

And look at how far success is

From the point where I am starting.

Then I take the other, to be fair,

And have a look at the something

’Cause the something is what I want,

But the road leads to mystery that

Protects me from danger and

A rather timid girl.

I pass through war and peace

In ashes with no volcano,

though leaves with no trees.

Yet the path is made for this once,

I know there is no going back.

I should be a girl at school

Unless aging could stop for this once:

Two butterflies with two purposes,

And I, I looked forward

To reach the top

With the opening of this door

      and the journey just started.
